Identify Current State and Scope
You are probably not the first person to do analysis work for a
particular project. It is important, therefore, for you to know what has
and has not been done, especially in the area of analysis. You do not
want to redo work or be redundant with information that has already been
gathered. On the other hand, be careful about assuming that someone else
has documented users’work thoroughly.
- Consider Work in Progress: make sure you know what work has been
done, and at what stage the project is.
- Decide on the Scope of the Analysis: the goal is to identify the
high-level task areas, not the flow in steps involved in performing
the tasks.
- Define Interface Design Constraints: identify all system hardware,
software, and project features and requirements that might constrain
the interface design.
